I’ve had a Dell Latitude E7450 for a few months now. Recently it froze while browsing and when I turned it back on, no beep/video/post. The flashing indicators were blinking solid solid like this image.
Got in touch with Dell, they did a motherboard swap the next day at my home. (3 year next-day business warranty FTW). They also changed the power jack and replaced the heatsink. A few weeks later, it’s been working fine. Yesterday it decided to crap itself on me again. Blinking solid solid.
Really frustrating. I haven’t reached out to Dell yet because I was wondering if there’s a way they would let me swap for a different model.

I remember having one of those deals on my first laptop years and years ago.
They came to my place and fixed it like 4 or 5 times, never was that an option, things could’ve changed over that time and maybe if it’s not something they think they can fix they’ll offer something.

You can try. I got Dell to send a new computer after repeated fixing of the old one kept failing. Can’t hurt to keep pushing.

They’ll just do a motherboard swap again at my house the next business day. But it’s ridiculous this has happened twice in a short amount of time.

Motherboard swap on a laptop sounds horrible.

I have to send my XPS via mail (wish I splurged for better warranty) because the LED screen has a weird tint in the left upper corner. It is very noticeable on white screens (like I spilt coffee on paper) and I have zero desire to go through the loops and hoops....
I feel your pain Nibby.

I used to do it for work, On a computer I didn’t know it would take about 3 hours. It really was not so bad, Apples on the other hand were nightmares.

I’ve done it several times, but I won’t do it on a machine that’s under warranty.

sounds like it’s time to start squawking/complaining about not wanting to go through this over and over, though I don’t know what your warranty reads like.

Hard drive failure, if so ssd time.

:(
Luckily mine’s a business machine with next day support so that means they’ll come to me with parts to fix it.

I feel those feels. Were buying 7470's now because all of the 7450's I bought would start randomly blinking when docked. I went back and forth with dell for 2 months and they could not come up with anything so we started buying 7470's which still blink in the dock (just not as often) and I have since received 3 that were f’d up right out of the box.
I really like the form factor of the 7000's but man have I replaced a lot of parts on them.

I’m just saying because of how tightly packed all the hardware is inside the case.

My warranty is solid, when they fixed it the first time they came to my house next day with new motherboard.

Yeah the reliability of them are not proving to be that well. Such a shame cause when it works it’s a really nice machine.

It already has an SSD. And that is not the issue.

I’ll never go back to the Latitude line after the E6500s.
I had so many warranty claims I had my service tag memorized, and the person on the phone was always stunned when I rattled it off with no delay.

I wish I still had my dell cert. I’d just do it myself. :(
